La Réunion comme récompense

A delicious first. And a meeting that could be era-defining. After a

season competing in the air, planet paraglide headed to the island

of Réunion for a "friendly competition bringing together the best 16

paragliders in the World Cup," explains Théo de Blic, winner of the

international circuit in 2017.

For the Julbo athlete, this masters series of the sky brought back a

flood of memories:"I've flown in lots of different places, but never

in Réunion. And yet I've known the island since I was a boy." What

better playground than this volcanic island in the heart of the Indian

Ocean? "In terms of the competition, I was a bit off the mark, but

it didn't matter. We were able to enjoy the island and its incredible

paths, perfect for trail running. There are so many things to do."

What does he remember best? "Jumping from a helicopter above the

lagoon was pretty special." Théo de Blic has made a promise – he's

planning a reunion with the island.

Après une saison à s’affronter dans les airs, la planète parapente avait

rendez-vous sur l’île de la Réunion pour une « compétition amicale qui

réunissait les seize meilleurs parapentistes de la Coupe du Monde »

explique Théo de Blic, vainqueur du circuit international en 2017.

Pour l’athlète Julbo, ce Masters Series du ciel fleurait bon la Madeleine

de Proust : « J’ai volé dans pasmald’endroits, mais jamais à la Réunion.

Pourtant, je connaissais l’île depuis que je suis gamin… » Quel meilleur

terrain de jeu que cette île volcanique au cœur de l’Océan Indien ?

« Niveau compétition, je suis un peu passé à côté, mais ce n’est pas

bien grave. Nous avons pu profiter de la Réunion et de ses sentiers

incroyables pour le Trail. Il y a tellement de choses à faire. » Et s’il ne

devait rester qu’une image ? « Lorsque tu t’élances de l’hélicoptère

au-dessus du lagon, c’est forcément atypique. » Théo de Blic l’a promis,

il reviendra à la Réunion.
