TERRE DU BOUT DU MONDE
With a dirt airstrip and limited landing opportunities, arriving by plane on the
tarmac of Kulusuk in the east of the country sets the tone for the wilderness
to come. Our mountaineers hook up with Siggy, Icelandic skipper and "Captain
Haddock of the northern seas", for the first leg: a boat crossing to the Tasiilaq
Fjord, the starting point for the approach walk. En route, they encounter
icebergs, the Northern lights, whales and seals. The sense of adventure is
palpable.
Piste en terre et atterrissage confidentiel, l’arrivée par les airs sur le tarmac
de Kulusuk, dans l’est du pays, annonce le dépaysement. Les deux alpinistes
retrouvent Siggy le skipper Islandais, « capitaine Haddock des mers du Nord »,
pour la première étape : une traversée en bateau vers le fjord de Tasiilaq, départ
de la marche d’approche. Icebergs, aurores boréales, baleines et phoques croisent
leur route. L’aventure prend tout son sens.
