The bird woman has struck again. But this time far, far away from her
native Swiss mountains. The queen of the wingsuit, Géraldine Fasnacht,
has taken to new heights. In July 2015, she boarded the boat ATKA
off the coast of southern Greenland. The yacht, whose name means
"icebreaker" or "guardian of the spirits" in Inuit, sailed through the far
North for a year, on a mission to discover Arctic cultures. This glacial
blue landscape of fjords and icebergs gave Géraldine an ephemeral
new playground and the possibility of opening wingsuit jumps from
the wildest of walls. Her assessment: "the cliffs in Greenland are some
of the most beautiful in the world."
La femme-oiseau a encore frappé. Mais cette fois-ci, loin de ses
montagnes suisses natales. La reine du wingsuit, Géraldine Fasnacht,
a pris de la hauteur. En juillet 2015, elle rejoint le bateau ATKA, dans
le sud du Groenland. Le voilier, dont le nom signifie "brise-glace" ou
"gardien des esprits" en inuit, a parcouru le Grand Nord, pendant un an,
à la découverte des cultures arctiques. Ce paysage bleu glacial, au cœur
des fjords et des icebergs, nouveau terrain de jeu éphémère, a offert
la possibilité à Géraldine d’ouvrir des sauts en wingsuit sur des parois
toujours plus sauvages. "Les falaises du Groenland font partie des plus
belles du monde", confiait-elle.
