Glacier blue, ice blue, midnight blue, ultramarine, steel blue, the color of ancient icebergs, the beauty of
subaquatic life, and the glory of the painter's palette lies before their eyes. Away for 22 months, Ghislain
Bardout, his son, his wife and his team are exploring the unknown depths of lands in the extreme north,
facing the hostile vastness to tell the life of a world adrift.
Known as Under The Pole, the underwater expedition weighed anchor in January 2014 for an innovative
and audacious adventure with an educational and scientific purpose, accompanied by the services of
around a hundred crew members and employees. A unique testimony for today and tomorrow. A young,
international team, a polar yacht and a crossing guided by Inuits, who will contribute to the exploration
of their land, husky dogs, 400 dives... the scope of Under The Pole is truly global.
And the aim of this unusual nature project between mountains and ocean, fjords and ice floes? To record
animal biodiversity but also to study humans and their physiological adaptation to extreme environments.
And to bring back new images of the Arctic, a victim of climate change. A fascinating world under threat
of disappearance. Some species are at risk of becoming extinct and a number of them have never been
inventoried. It's high time to get on with it.

son fils, sa femme et son équipe explorent les profondeurs inconnues des terres de l’extrême Nord,
parcourent les immensités hostiles pour raconter la vie d’un univers à la dérive. Expédition polaire sous-
marine, Under The Pole a largué les amarres en janvier 2014 pour une aventure innovante et audacieuse,
éducative et scientifique, qui a su s’attacher les services d’une centaine d’équipiers et collaborateurs. Un
témoignage unique pour aujourd’hui et pour demain. Une équipe jeune et internationale, un voilier polaire,
une traversée guidée par les Inuits, qui vont contribuer à l’exploration de leurs terres, et leurs chiens de
traîneau, 400 plongées, l’ampleur de cette expédition Under The Pole est planétaire.
Le but de cette approche naturaliste inédite entre montagnes et océan, entre fjords et banquise ? Répertorier
la biodiversité animale mais aussi étudier l’homme et son adaptation physiologique en milieu extrême.
Ramener des images inédites de l’Arctique, victime du réchauffement climatique. Un monde fascinant
menacé de disparaître. Certaines espèces risquent l’extinction. Nombre d’entre elles n’ont même jamais
été répertoriées… Il est plus que l’heure de s’en préoccuper.
