Montagnard parmi les montagnards
Sam is a born man of the mountains who practices both ski
mountaineering (for pleasure, while his brother, Martin, is a
seasoned competition champion) and pure mountaineering
with his other brother Simon, who won a Piolet d'Or award
in 2009 for his ascent of the north face of Tengkangpoche
with Ueli Steck.
Sam est un montagnard-né qui pratique aussi bien le ski-
alpinisme (pour le plaisir, là où Martin, son frère, est un
champion féru de compétition) que l’alpinisme pur, avec son
autre frère Simon, Piolet d’or en 2009 pour son ascension de
la face Nord de Tengkangpoche, avec Ueli Steck.
His enthusiasm is shared with Vivian Bruchez, another
Team Julbo skier, with whom he designed a pro model in
the Family Series. "It was quite logical to work hand in hand
on it with Vivian: we have the same vision of the sport,"
explains Sam. "It all happened naturally. We had the same
idea of what we wanted to put into "The Verticals" goggle.
The first thing was we wanted it to be simple. We used
green to evoke nature and anthracite for a mineral feel.
But the functional aspect was our priority. In my opinion,
Julbo makes the best lenses out there. And then I love
the SuperFlow System: it allows you to move the lens
forward so there's no fogging even when you're walking."
A godsend for fans of the slopes… however steep they are!
Une passion partagée avec Vivian Bruchez, autre skieur du
team Julbo, avec lequel il signe un pro-model estampillé
Family Series. "On a travaillé ensemble main dans la main
avec Vivian et en toute logique : nous avons la même vision
du sport" témoigne Sam. "Tout s’est fait naturellement.
Nous avions la même idée de ce que nous voulions mettre
dans le masque "The Verticals". Nous voulions qu’il
soit simple, déjà. Du vert, pour évoquer la nature, et de
l’anthracite, pour un côté minéral. Mais l’aspect fonctionnel
était notre priorité. Julbo fait les meilleurs verres, à mon
sens. Et puis j’adore le SuperFlow System : il te permet
de déporter ton écran vers l’avant pour ne pas avoir de
buée même si tu marches". Une aubaine pour les amateurs
de pentes… plus ou moins raides !
